Advance applications for the 2026 Jeong-dong Culture Night close at 6 p.m. on October 16. Missing an embassy tour or guided program does not mean missing the entire event on October 30 and 31. The official timetable separately lists performances and late-opening cultural venues. This guide distinguishes programs that require advance application from possible walk-in stops and shows how to build a two- or three-hour route around entry cutoffs.
The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 30, and from 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, around Jeong-dong-gil. General admission to the event is listed as free, but some activities charge a fee and Deoksugung Palace has a separate KRW 1,000 general admission ticket. Schedules and operating conditions may change, so check the official Jeong-dong Culture Night website immediately before leaving.
Seoul Metropolitan GovernmentSeparate the nine advance-application programs from walk-in stops
The official application page lists nine programs: tours of the Canadian and British embassies, an interior tour of the Ewha Museum, special nighttime interpretation at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History of Land Development, an Agricultural Museum docent tour, a Pai Chai Hall tour and XR experience, a guided Jeong-dong walk, and a feng shui lecture. Applications close at 6 p.m. on October 16. Oversubscribed programs use a lottery. Results are scheduled for October 19 on the website and through individual notices, while unsuccessful applicants may not receive a separate message.
| Group | Representative programs | Time and capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Embassies | Canadian and British embassy interior tours | Fri 16:00, 30 / Sat 14:00–15:00, 20 per session |
| Museums | Ewha, Land Development and Agricultural museums | 20–25 per session, 40–60 minutes |
| Pai Chai Hall | Walking tour and planting activity / XR experience | Sat 10:00, 14:00 / Fri–Sat 20:00, 20:30 |
| Guided walk | Walk Around Jeong-dong | 60 minutes, 10–15, every 30 minutes |
| Lecture | Brighten Your Fortune in Jeong-dong | Sat 16:00, 90 minutes, 500 |
The official timetable and venue guide also list many performances and exhibitions without an advance-application label. These include performances at Chungdong First Methodist Church, the Deoksugung palace concert, organ recitals at Seoul Anglican Cathedral, performances at Jungmyeongjeon Hall and an outdoor show at the National Jeongdong Theater. Absence from the reservation list is not a guarantee of entry. Capacity, queues and safety controls may limit admission, so avoid building the entire evening around a single program.
Friday and Saturday start on different schedules
Friday's official event hours begin at 6 p.m., although an outdoor performance at Chungdong First Methodist Church starts earlier at 5:30. The Deoksugung palace concert begins at 6:30, followed at 7:30 by an organ recital at Seoul Anglican Cathedral and a performance at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History of Land Development.
Saturday provides more daytime room. A magic performance at Jungmyeongjeon Hall and a Salvation Army History Museum brass-band performance both begin at 2 p.m. The National Jeongdong Theater's outdoor show starts at 4:10, and a popera duet follows at Jungmyeongjeon at 6. Choosing one performance and one venue makes a two- or three-hour visit easier to manage, including walking and queues.
| Date | Time | Venue and program |
|---|---|---|
| Fri, Oct. 30 | 17:30 | Chungdong First Methodist Church outdoor performance |
| Fri, Oct. 30 | 18:30 | Deoksugung palace concert |
| Fri, Oct. 30 | 19:30 | Anglican Cathedral organ / Land Development Museum performance |
| Sat, Oct. 31 | 14:00 | Jungmyeongjeon magic / Salvation Army brass band |
| Sat, Oct. 31 | 16:10 | National Jeongdong Theater outdoor show |
| Sat, Oct. 31 | 18:00 | Jungmyeongjeon popera duet |

Start with the application result to simplify the route. Successful applicants should fix the meeting place and time first, then add one nearby venue before or after it. Visitors who did not apply or were not selected can anchor the evening with one desired performance and add one venue whose entry cutoff fits. Two nearby stops usually leave more time for actual viewing than an attempt to cover the entire district.
Venue entry cutoffs arrive before the 10 p.m. event finish
The event continues until 10 p.m., but not every venue accepts entries that late. Deoksugung stays open until 9 p.m. and stops admission at 8. The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Deoksugung, stops entry at 8:30; the Seoul Museum of Art at 9; and Jungmyeongjeon and the Jeongdong Observatory at 9:30. Late arrivals should plan backward from the last venue's entry cutoff, not from the event's closing hour.
| Venue | Closes | Last entry |
|---|---|---|
| Deoksugung | 21:00 | 20:00 |
| MMCA Deoksugung | 21:00 | 20:30 |
| Seoul Museum of Art | 22:00 | 21:00 |
| Jungmyeongjeon | 22:00 | 21:30 |
| Jeongdong Observatory | 22:00 | 21:30 |
Traffic controls are planned from the front of Daehanmun Gate through the Jeong-dong Fountain to the area in front of Yewon School, and the event provides no separate parking lot. Planning an arrival through City Hall Station and a possible departure through Gwanghwamun or Euljiro 1-ga Station can reduce overlap with the main return crowd. Check subway, bus and control information on the official directions page before leaving.
Use familiar items instead of buying new gear
An urban evening festival does not require new products. Comfortable shoes you already use, a light outer layer and a charged phone cover the basics. If rain is forecast, add your usual compact umbrella or rain jacket and a small bag for a wet umbrella before entering indoor venues.
Missing advance application changes the way you build the route; it does not erase every option. Choose one performance with a firm start time, then add one nearby venue with a compatible entry cutoff. Recheck the timetable and traffic controls the day before, and keep only one nearby backup in case the queue at your first choice is long.
