A Jeju day can quickly turn into a driving itinerary when every appealing place is pinned on the map. Autumn allows a simpler plan: taste the island at Hallim Maeil Market, find its style in Jeoji Artists' Village, and slow down among the silver grass of Eoeum-ri before the light fades. Keeping all three scenes in western Jeju also makes the day easier to shorten when the weather changes.
| Scene | Place | What to do | If the weather turns |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taste | Hallim Maeil Market | Choose one meal from a stall that is open now | Spend more time under the covered arcade |
| Art | Jeoji Artists' Village | Separate book-ahead programs from open exhibitions | Reduce the route to indoor shows |
| Atmosphere | Eoeum-ri silver grass | Walk only on a safe public route before dusk | Skip it in strong wind or heavy rain |
Why climate normals and the day’s forecast are different
The October climate-normal guide for Jeju uses the Korea Meteorological Administration's 1991–2020 normals and gives Jeju City a mean of 18.6°C, with mean maximum and minimum temperatures of 21.6°C and 15.7°C. Seogwipo's mean is slightly warmer at 19.6°C. These are climate normals, not a forecast for one travel date. Wind, rain and apparent temperature can differ between the coast and the island's mid-mountain area, so check the hourly forecast for Hallim and Aewol again on the day you leave.
A light outer layer that can go back into your bag is usually enough. If the wind makes an umbrella difficult to handle or rain is expected to persist, remove the silver-grass stop and keep the market and exhibitions. A good day is not one that collects all three locations. It is one that fits what Jeju allows that day.
At Hallim Maeil Market, what is open is the useful criterion
Hallim Maeil Market is an alley-style market with more than 70 years of history. Visit Jeju's Hallim Maeil Market information lists its hours as 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while warning that individual shops may keep different hours and holidays. It is enough to know that the market includes produce, seafood, restaurants and foods that can be eaten immediately or taken away. Instead of arriving with one famous dish in mind, look at the portions and menus offered by the shops that are actually open and choose one meal.

Be careful with food that would sit in a car for hours. Buy seafood or refrigerated goods only when you can move them promptly into a refrigerator; otherwise, let the market stop end with the meal you eat there. The market is more rewarding when it remains a place to notice the day's ingredients and ordinary local routines, rather than a tally of snacks.
ART&JEOJI exhibitions that outlast the headline dates
The Official ART&JEOJI 2026 schedule gives October 16 to 25 as the headline period, linking museums, galleries and studios in the village through exhibitions, performances and workshops. Not every program ends on the same day. The group exhibition at the Jeoji Culture District Living Culture Center continues through October 31, the Hangyun Calligraphy Museum opening exhibition through November 17, and the outdoor exhibition at the Itami Jun Museum through December 31. Some art therefore remains available after the headline festival period.
The atelier tours and creative workshops, however, require advance registration. Do not assume you can join on arrival. If you do not have a reservation, choose two exhibitions that accept ordinary visitors. You will have time to read the labels instead of rushing through a chain of rooms. Recheck each venue's opening hours and closing day immediately before visiting.
Eoeum-ri silver grass: set a leaving time before the sunset shot
Visit Jeju included the fields around Eoeum-ri in Aewol in its 2026 autumn feature. The official description focuses on broad stands of silver grass moving in the wind and catching a silver glow as the sun lowers. That exact light and density cannot be guaranteed every day. Cloud cover, wind and the condition of the plants change the view.
Jeju Tourism Organization, Visit JejuFirst identify where parking and walking are permitted. Do not pull over abruptly on a roadside or enter a field or private property for a closer photograph. Work backward from the time you want to leave so that you are not walking an unfamiliar mid-mountain road after dark. If the wind is strong enough to push you off balance, return to the indoor plan.

Clear skies, light rain or strong wind: what stays?
Fill only two possible gaps in your packing list
There is no need to expand your gear collection for an autumn day in Jeju. If you already have a light rain layer, use it. A poncho is only an example for travelers who want both hands free in light rain while walking through the market and village. Check size, ventilation and bag coverage, and remove outdoor stops in strong wind or heavy rain regardless of equipment. Prices, stock, colors and options can change, so check them again before buying.
There is also no reason to replace a power bank you already use. Compare the example below only if maps, booking screens and photographs drain your phone quickly and you specifically need a small cable-free model. Check the phone connector, case clearance and charging specification first, and follow your airline’s latest rules for carrying power banks.
Three checks immediately before departure
The strength of this day is not the quantity of places. One market meal, one exhibition in Jeoji and one slow walk beside the silver grass can keep taste, art and atmosphere connected. When the weather changes, remove the silver grass first. The time left behind may be what allows you to see Jeju without rushing.
